Howard M. Lando, MD, FACP, FACE, now retired, was a practicing endocrinologist with Medical Specialists of Northern Virginia in Alexandria and Reston, Virginia. He was born and raised in the Washington, DC, area and received a BS in Physics at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia. His internship and residency were completed at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, and his fellowship was completed at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he was a Clinical Professor of Medicine. Dr. Lando is a Past President of Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital medical staff and has served on its Executive Committee since 1995. He is also a Past President of the DC Affiliate of the American Diabetes Association and is a past member of the Laboratory Committee of the American Thyroid Association.
Dr. Lando is a Past President of AACE. Before that, he served as President, President elect, Vice President of AACE, Treasurer, Secretary, on the AACE Board of Directors and as its Assistant Parliamentarian. He also served AACE as Chair of the Legislative and Regulatory Committee where he helped shepherd through Congress the National Clinical Care Commission Act which was signed by the President into law November 2, 2017. He is now on the advocacy and Finance Committees of AACE and has also been a member of the Bylaws Committee, member of the AACEPAC Board, Ex-Officio and past Vice Chair of the Socioeconomics Committee where he co-chaired the Third-Party Payer Subcommittee, Ex-Officio on the Publications Committee, past member of the FACE Committee, and a past representative for AACE to the RVS Update Committee (RUC). He was also a board member of Mid-Atlantic AACE where he helped found its Legislative Committee with Dr. Anne Leddy.
